Birthdays

.

Thinking about I should start writing here again but don’t know . . . what I do know is it’s Misha’s bd today and keith said she was born in ’89 which means she’s 36 today but the really cool crazy thing I just realized is that means that she’s exactly 1/2 my age, 72 and I have no idea if that will ever happem again!

how often do
1/2s happen?

36 and 72!

from WE

Haiku from WE not posted yet???:

10/29

suddenly
knowing
I
was
falling

the
hard
cement

10/30

solitude —
even clock
ticking in kitchen
an unwelcome guest

10/31

Here’s two haiku today, both fron the Haiku Book for Mom:

pest control man
spraying poison
around the yard —
insects scatter fast!
❤️

through my sister’s eyes
lily-white cactus flowers
floating
in the pond

NOVEMBER

11/01

And this haiku from the Haiku Book for Mom 2015 is so how I feel some days . . .

floating all alone
in the deep blue sky
baby clouds
have lost their mom

11/02

here’s my haiku for today, sort of from the Haiku Book for Mom:

sunflower seeds!
golden sunlight
sprinkled
through deep green
salad
leaves

The reason I said “sort of” is because I changed the last word just now — this is how it was originally (below) but suddenly using the word “green/greens” twice sounded too redundant.

sunflower seeds!
golden sunlight
sprinkled
through deep green
salad
greens

11/03:

here is my haiku for today:

bounding
into the sun
puppies shake off
the last edges
of shade

11/04:

Today I have two versions of the same haiku to offer — the first updated to the “proper” season at least where I live and the second the original version out of the Haiku Book for Mom:

as the sun fades
on this cool autumn eve
crickets tune their strings

and, v1 from Mom’s Haiku Book:

as the sun falters
this dry summer eve
crickets tune their strings

11/05 —

for today from Mom’s Haiku Book the next in order

hundred eight degrees

cars rush by
like fire ants
angry in the heat

11/06 —

From A Haiku Book for Mom:

juicy sweetness
piled on the grocer’s shelf —
bright orange tangerines

11/07 —

here’s a summer haiku from the Haiku Bppl for Mom 🙂

summer lightning storm —
raindrops evaporate
kissing hot cement

11/08–

here’s today’s haiku; two versions like I’ve been doing lately (Basho would say it’s two different haiku since I changed one word, but I think it’s more two versions of the same haiku) and again, from the Haiku book for Mom (second version):

peacocks can fly!
vibrant reds
blues
greens —
shimmering colors
fill the sky

As entered in my Haiku Book for Mom:

peacocks can fly!
vibrant reds
blues
greens
shimmering colors
in the sky

11/09 —

Here’s today’s haiku, again from A Haiku Book for Mom but today more in season —

autumn sunset skies
streaked with soft colors
breathing
dusky rose

11/10 —

— not sure if this us new —

under the umbrella
windswept raindrops
tickle my nose

11/11 —

Here’s today’s haiku, the first version from A Haiku Book for Mom and the second a one-word revision I just did today:

a man and his dog
feet crunching
on graveled streets
sniff
for oncoming rain

v2:

a man and his dog
feet crunching graveled streets
sniff for oncoming rain

11/12 —

Here’s another haiku from A Haiku Book for Mom:

what secrets hide
beneath
weeping willow trees?
long branches
brush the ground

11/13 AND 11/14 —

I have two for today, the one I should have posted yesterday and one for today:

For 11/13/23: & 11/14

bounding up trees
squirrels defy gravity
flying through the air

I really thought I had posted that yesterday and maybe I did and am mis-reading everything here but in any case here’s for today 11/14:

waiting for rain
parched wheat fields
rustle in the wind
singig scratchy
off-key songs

11/15 —

Here’s today’s haiku from  A Haiku Book for Mom:

black asphalt road
late-for-work cars rush by
tires spinning on air

11/16 —

the artists’s brush —
maple trees paint fall landscapes
oranges, reds, browns and gpld

11/17 —

The following haiku has two versions; the first from 2015 in A Haiku Book for Mom and the second today because I’m not sure if I was using a “big” word in the first version that maybe doesn’t flow as well as it could. I’d love any reflections!

the faintest light —
fog stands silently
permeates
the morning air

v2

the faintest light —
fog stands silently
filling
the morning air

11/18 —

gusty autumn winds —
empty soda cans
scattered
across
the
lawn

11/19 — (don’t think this was posted at WE and yesterday the 18th was the last thing I posted all month. 🙂 think I was in a sad mood it took awhile to get out of.

autumn  at grandmas
raking piles of scattered leaves
golden reds and browns

DECEMBER 2023: (i DIDN’T POST ANYTHING AFTER THE 18TH BUT HAD THE 19TH READ TO GO)

12/01/23 —

trying on new winter coats
the lawn dresses
in browns and reds and golds

12/02/23 — three haiku don’t want to forget any of them! — Let me reword the haiku, first by what I think you meant for the word “lawn” and the second, a bit more clear (?) what I originally meant. (I like both new versions!)

swirling in soft cotton fabric —
new winter dresses!
reds and browns and golds

v2:

trying on new winter coats
the outside grass dresses in
reds and browns and golds

And here’s the haiku that I wanted to post yesterday on the first but the scrap of paper it was written on decided it would be more fun to hide until I found it today:

silent winter nights
with frosty ice cold kisses
December sneaks in

12/03/23 —

everywhere
holiday colors —
husking walnuts
my fingers
turn green

12/04/23 —

seagull flown inland
drags wisps of foggy air
the scent
of fish and chips

V2

seagull flown inland
drags wisps of salty air
the scent
of fish and chips

wp-admin NOT

wp-admin is so not what it used to be.

Even though it says wp-admin in the url

the pages look and act like Block.

I thought maybe paying for a personal site would help but it didn’t make any difference.

I used to love WordPress but not much anymore.

The fact I think I got hit in the head again when I fell and broke my tailbone(s) probably doesn’t help either . . .
